United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Dulles, 7 Passengers Hospitalized

A United Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at the Dulles International Airport in Washington after there was a slight odor of fuel smelled inside the cabin on Friday (March 29).

The plane had taken off from the BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport in Baltimore and after the smell was experienced by some of the passengers the plane made an emergency landing at Dulles Airport. 7 passengers were reportedly hospitalized in total after the fiasco.

The United Airlines Flight 1675 departed BWI Airport shortly after 6:30am Eastern Time and landed at the Dulles Airport 45 minutes after departure. Normal airport operations went on without a glitch at the Dulles Airport after the landing of the said plane.

The source of the odor inside the Boeing 737-800 is still not entirely certain but it is suspected that a jet fume was the source of the issue in the first place. When the aircraft first touched down at the Dulles international Airport the first responders took care of the minor cases of treatment, for example people who were suffering from chest pain, breathing trouble and headaches.

Passengers who were hospitalized experienced extreme nausea, headache, anxiety attacks, trouble in breathing among other things. The airline reportedly explained in their defense that the aircraft needed ‘prolonged ventilation system maintenance’. One of the hospitalized passenger stated that United Airlines has offered to take care of the expenses of medication and hospital bills.

The flight was originally expected to land in San Francisco at 10am.
