A Pune-based travel firm that provides to personal travel needs of armed forces personnel and paramilitary forces personnel and their family members, stated on Tuesday (April 23) it will refund its customers the amount due from Jet Airways flight cancellations before the airline reciprocated in the same manner.

The company did not disclose the exact amount but sources said it would be about Rs. 6 crores.

The firm, ‘udChalo’, is a portal which was established by wards of Army men and it provides for personal travel needs of armed forces personnel, paramilitary personnel as well as their family members. Its employees consist of military veterans, wards of serving and retired military personnel, and paraplegic and quadriplegic veterans.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of udChalo.com and son of a retired Colonel reportedly commented that when the customer is “esteemed” personnel like the armed forces personnel, other priorities become secondary compared to the interest of our soldiers.

The decision comes after a petition was moved before the Delhi High Court on Monday (April 22), seeking direction to the Centre and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure a refund or alternative mode of travel to passengers who had booked tickets with Jet Airways, as per media reports.
