Former chairman of Jet Airways, Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita Goyal have been denied travel permissions at the Mumbai airport by immigration authorities on Saturday (May 25) as per media reports.

The couple was going to travel on the Dubai-bound Emirates flight EK 507 when the incident took place. The immigration authority denied the Goyal couple permission to fly according to the Goyals. The checked in baggage was also off-loaded when the couple was made to miss their flight. The baggage was in Anita Goyal’s name. The flight was scheduled for departure at 3.35 pm.

Both the airlines and the Goyal couple have kept quiet on the matter up until now.

Last month, Jet Airways officers and staff association president Kiran Pawaskar had submitted a written application to the Mumbai police commissioner that the passports of Goyal and other directors and senior members of the Jet Airways management should be seized as the airline had not paid due salaries to its employees for several months.

Employees of Jet Airways had orchestrated a number of protest rallies and strikes to get their due from the company all to no avail.

Naresh Goyal, as well as Anita Goyal, had resigned from the board of Jet Airways, which the former chairman founded about 26 years ago, in the month of March which was followed by a debt-restructuring plan. Goyal had to resign from his post as the airline chairman when the airline couldn’t recover from a long-drawn loss-making and a piling amount of debt.
