Survey Says US travelers Less Interested to Visit Havana This Year

US tourists are losing interest in visiting Havana, the capital of Cuba according to a new report, informed the media. The report comes right before the 500th anniversary of Havana in November.

The survey conducted by Allianz Global Assistance, a travel insurance and assistance company had recorded the vote of about 1,500 odd people to get the idea of the rate of interest US citizens showcase to travel to the Cuban city, Havana. The positive respondent rate which was 5 percent in 2017 and 3 percent in 2018 has come down to 2.4 percent in 2019 with the response that it is very much likely that they plan a tour to Cuba. On the other hand, the percentage for negative respondents had gone significantly up with 85.4 percent vote share compared to 82 percent in 2018 and 76 percent in 2017.

Majority of the respondents, about 90 percent said they weren’t knowledgeable about the fact that it is Havana’s 500th anniversary year. There were mixed feelings about this situation as well. While, 6.8 percent of participants in the survey said that they are excited about the upcoming festivity, 2.3 percent responded that they are not interested in the event at all and may not plan a trip to the city due to the event.

US government commenced traveling to Cuba for its citizens in 2014, though majority of the American citizenry is unaware of the current law regarding making a trip to island of Cuba.

Traveling to the Republic of Cuba from the US can be done though both planes and cruise ships.

In spite of the survey and its outcomes Cuba is equipped to receive about 5 million tourists in 2019. According to the tourism ministry of Cuba the country has seen around 7.4 percent of growth in tourism between 2018 and 2019.

The majority of tourists in Cuba are from Canada, while the second place holders are Cubans who live outside the country. Americans count 3rd followed by Germans, British, Italians, French and Spaniards.
