Microsoft Internet Explorer retirement home in 2015, but four years later, the company’s cybersecurity professional is warning diehard fans that it really is time to change to a new browser.

Microsoft rolled out the first version of IE in 1995, together with Windows 95. It introduced IE 11 in October 2013. Microsoft started pushing Edge with Windows 10 in 2015.

Internet Explorer 11 will be retired for Windows 10 customer SKUs (version 20H2 and later) and Windows 10 IOT (version 20H2 and later). Products not pretentious by this leaving include Internet Explorer Mode in Edge; Internet Explorer 11 desktop on Windows 8.1, Windows 7 (with Extended Security Updates), Windows Server LTSC (all versions). The Internet Explorer 11 desktop app is not accessible on Windows 11, as Edge is the defaulting browser for Windows 11.

Customers are encouraged to move to Microsoft Edge, which delivers support for heritage and up-to-date websites and apps. For administrations with a dependence on birth right Internet Explorer-founded sites and apps, sites will need to be arranged to open in Microsoft Edge using Internet Explorer (IE) mode.

Users, meanwhile, complained that IE was slow, prone to deafening and susceptible to hacks. IE’s market share, which in the early 2000s was over 90%, began to fade as users originate more attractive replacements.
