Jet Airways Gets its Summer Schedule Approved till April 25 by DGCA

The regulatory body for Civil Aviation in India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly approved the summer schedule for Jet Airways flights till April 25.

The official document which makes it clear that the summer schedule has been approved for Jet Airways also states that quite a few other Indian airlines such as, Vistara, IndiGo, Air India and Go Air have all cleared their flight schedules till October 26.

Keeping in line with international customs, the DGCA approves flight schedules twice a year. First is the summer schedule which kicks off from the Sunday of the last week of March and the second is the winter schedule which starts from the last Sunday of October.

Jet Airways which is already going through a lot of upheaval with the stepping down of its founder and long-standing Chairman Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita after a struggle of years to keep the airline afloat faced further roadblock with the National Aviator’s Guild (NAG), the domestic pilot body of the airline, refusing further service without the settlement of previous payment of salary as well as clarity on receiving future payments.

Fortunately, the NAG postponed the halting of operations till April 15 which let the summer schedule of Jet Airways start without anymore snag.

The NAG reportedly consists of 1,100-1,600 Jet Airways pilots. On March 25, Jet Airways’ board passed a resolution plan formulated by SBI-led domestic lenders who have decided to take the rein of the airline with a fund infusion of INR 15 billion.

Consequently, the share of former Chairman Naresh Goyal has come down to 25.5% from his primary stakeholder’s position with 51% while major shareholder Etihad Airways which previously had 24% stake in the airline company was left with only 12%.
