Indigo to Launch Non-stop Flights from Delhi to Chengdu

India’s major carrier Indigo plans to enter into the Chinese aviation market by launching non-stop international flight service on the popular Delhi-Chengdu route.

Currently Indigo is serving 5 destinations in Asia and with the launch of new international flight service to Chengdu in China the airline will be extending its portfolio of existing international flight destinations, the new destination-Chengdu will be Indigo’s 19th International destination.

Indigo is a major Indian carrier that boasts of having 50% share in the Indian domestic market. Chief Commercial Officer of Indigo Airlines William Boulter confirmed this in a statement to the media saying “This truly is a milestone moment for all of us at Indigo. India is witnessing a much higher growth rate with respect to aviation and currently the India-China route is under-served by Indian carriers.”

Indigo will operate daily non-stop flights from Delhi to Chengdu starting September 15th this year. Indigo sees a huge business potential in the Chinese market because Chinese tourists are known for their overseas vacationing. Boulter further adds “China is a market with immense potential and hold prominent trade, cultural and tourism values. We hope to further strengthen our relation by entering into China.”

The largest Indian carrier, Indigo plans to open up the sale of its tickets on the Delhi-Chengdu route once it gets the regulatory clearances on this route from the concerned authorities.
