Bucket list of Adventures in South Asia: Mongolia, Nepal, India & Srilanka

So adventure is on your mind again, there’s no place like Asia for outdoor adventures, be prepared to get your wanderlust for adventure pumped up!

In my previous blog I wrote about the top bucket list ideas for your adventures in South East Asia including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Singapore and Indonesia, today I’m gonna cover adventure activities in the not so popular South Asian region including India, Nepal, Mongolia, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The climate of South Asia is ideal for holidaying because of the pleasant warm weather round the year. Of course South East Asia is the most preferred destination for adventures but South Asia is not a bad choice at all. Let’s put it this way head to South Asia if you’ve crossed all the bucket list of adventures in SE Asia that I listed in my previous blog.

So what can you expect in South Asia from the point of view of adventure? Well, you can expect to do horse riding, trekking, snorkeling, scuba diving, white water rafting and kayaking to name a few. The best part of travelling to South Asia is you will get to taste varied regional cuisines that are world renowned like Indian, Nepali, Mongolian and Sri Lankan, be assured of tasting some great foods while you are in this part of the Asian continent.

Since you are heading out on an adventure trail my advice to you is make sure you have a valid travel insurance that is going to cover your out of pocket expenses in the event of any injuries during your adventures. Since South Asia is a warm region don’t forget carrying a sun screen, hat and sun glasses to protect you from the scorching heat of the sun. Most US travelers keep asking me whether a visa is required to travel to South Asia the answer is ‘yes’ US travelers need a valid passport, country specific visa and a flight ticket to perform a travel to their choice of country in the SA region. For more information about obtaining a relevant visa my suggestion to you is contact your travel agent in your homeland and that should fix the problem. Having covered the prime information concerning your travel let me now walk you through my bucket list of ideas for your adventures in South Asia.

Mongolia

Take a guided tour of Mongolia on a horse for two days across the most popular Mongolian steppe, on the way make stopovers at various attractions like waterfalls, eight lakes region and the monastery on the mountain for getting educational insights from the guide about the each of these attractions.

Take a camel ride on a two humped camel in the mini Gobi desert of Mongolia to admire the barren desert as you move past hot sand dunes, expect to sight a rare herd of camels on your way that have been featured on National Geographic Planet Earth.

Nepal

Nepal boasts of being home to the highest mountain in the world- The Himalayas and is a tourist delight especially for trekking and mountaineering. Trekking to the top of Everest Base Camp is our top pick in the bucket list of adventures in SA for you. Make the best use of your trip by getting a one-of-a-kind experience while climbing and trekking through the complicated mountain terrains to reach the top of the Everest. Mind the hilly terrains as they are going to put your climbing and trekking skills to test. Beware this outdoor adventure is not for the easy hearted it can be really daunting to try this out!

India

India figures out as one of the most visited countries in the world mainly from western countries for its diverse religious monuments, culture, regional food cuisines and natural settings. Now let me not waste my time about things that don’t interest you, after all I presume you are reading my blog with a view to find out about the adventure things in India so I’m gonna limit myself to adventures. Again Considering the vastness of India there are so many adventures things that you can do when you land in this country, I will only list the must-try adventures for you, covering all the varied adventures will go beyond the scope of my blog.

Taking a camel trek in Rajasthan to experience the life of a true desert Nomad is the best thing that you can do to fulfill your urge for a desert adventure. We recommend you to head to Jaisalmer, an ancient Fort city in Rajasthan for trekking through the sand dunes of the nearby Thar Desert on a camel that will at least last for two days. Don’t forget to carry your own drinking water, sun glasses and some sun screen as the temperature in the desert can be alarmingly high.

India’s river Ganges is considered holy by most practicing Hindus in this country, people of this religion believe that taking a dip in the river Ganges at least once in a lifetime can cleanse you off of all your sins that eventually is supposed to pave way for better Karma. The river Ganges today lies in a sorry state and it is totally polluted and is filled with dirty water, so this will really make you wonder why you must do white water rafting in a polluted river like this, the answer river Ganges flows across many regions, you must think of this sport only when you reach the upper northern part of Himalayas where you can be sure of finding pristine and crystal clear water ideal for white water rafting.

Sri Lanka

Mountain biking in Sri Lanka is another adventure that you can’t miss, Sri Lanka boasts of having some really good terrains for bicycling and expect to bump into tea plantations, rubber trees, jungles on your biking trail. Adrenaline junkies, y’all can experience 100% adrenaline flow when you explore the mountainous terrains of this country, just remember to carry a high quality camera for taking snapshots of the scenic views and surrounding landscapes.
